Alexandra Rosamund Cartañá-Marks was born in Sussex, England, UK and raised in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. At a young age she decided to leave Spain and focus on studying performing arts in the UK, taking A-Level Theatre Studies and Extra Speech & Drama at Ardingly college as well as attending extra-curricular courses at the prestigious The London Academy Of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).In 2003, she signed a record deal with EMI UK, which enabled her to write with some of the biggest Pop writer/producers: Stargate (Ne-Yo, Beyoncé & Rihanna), Cutfather & Joe (Ace of Base, Kylie Minogue) & Soulpower (Craig David, Lemar) however her album was never released as there was notably something missing in the puzzle. Nevertheless during that time, she was fortunate enough to co-write and perform on the popular Pop-Dance record: "Shake It (Move A Little Closer)" with Lee-Cabrera (notorious New York production duo Steven Lee and Albert Cabrera erstwhile collaborators with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight and Tori Amos). The single smashed into the Top 20 UK Charts and performed exceedingly well. Her underground Debut Single "Hey Papi" was released and created somewhat of a stir, however her follow-up single failed to see the light of day. This however did not stop her and she went on to pursue her musical career with a new team.2006 - After breaking away from EMI, her writing credits accumulated steadfastly under the Management of 365 Artist, with various songs featuring on Chill-out, Café Del Mar, and Easy Listening Projects; in addition to, the ever-growing-in-popularity British girl Band "The Saturdays" (Universal) who covered one of my her all-time favourite songs "Why Me Why Now" (Co-written with Hannah Robinson & Paul Statham) you can find this on their successful debut album "Chasing Lights".German Pop Idol girl band "Monrose" (Warner) liked "What They Want" so much, they just had to include it on their 3rd Studio album "I Am", and with no exception, Dutch pop-star "Natalia" (Sony) also features one of her songs "Suspicion" on her album "Wise Girl".2008 - After an short-lived partnership with Producer/Songwriter Justin Gray (Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey) she started working with with a variety of Latin American producers to expand her Spanish Catalogue. More recently writing for Mexican Superstar Anahí, under the guidance of Claribel Cuevas former Creative Director at SONY/ATV Miami (Latin).2012 - Her voice features in various commercials in both North and South America, for companies such as Pampers, Hewlett Packard, Samsung and Fisher Price . Alex, has recently gone back to her Theatrical background after a 'Dramatic' hiatus. She takes acting classes with John Homa in North Hollywood and is working on a variety of independent projects.
