Aidan Moore Whytock was born to Ron and Bonnie Whytock in Johannesburg, South Africa. The son of a commercial pilot, Aidan grew up in Singapore. As a teenager he was sent to boarding school in England, where he discovered his love for theatre. Unsure of what to do with his life Aidan pursued Social Anthropology at the University of Cape Town. He has a degree in this, Environmental Science and a post-graduate in Enterprise Management. He was Vice-Chair of the illustrious UCT RAG organization that raised funds for charity by managing the biggest student parties and fund-raisers in the city. Here he was headhunted by one of the world's biggest breweries.After working as a beer salesman, a management consultant, an event manager and an entrepreneur Aidan still wasn't settled and returned to his stage roots. After winning South Africa's Fleur Du Cap People's Choice Award for his second professional stage outing, Aidan turned to film.After a series of lead roles in indie short films Aidan landed a small role in Safehouse (2012). He returned to indie short films until he was cast opposite Claire Danes in Homeland Season 4 (2014). A few short months later he was cast as one of the series regulars Jacob Garrett in Michael Bay's pirate drama Black Sails (2014-16).Aidan turned to directing and producing, starting with short films. His third short film The Choice (2015) went on to win the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Award at the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh International Fashion Film Festival (2015). His debut feature film as a director and lead actor, The Actor (2014) was made on the astonishing USD3,500 and secured a theatrical release.2016 has been a busy year for Aidan who has won awards for Best Director and Best Producer, was cast in the feature films Dagba (2017), 24 Hours to Live (2017) and the new grind-house series Blood Drive (2017) as well as No Man Left Behind (2016).
