Seven of the most formidable heroes: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter, join forces as the Justice League to battle powerful villains, supernatural creatures and evil entities determined to take over the world and destroy the League.
The highly visual, action-packed inaugural season offered a surprisingly consistent level of quality and creative energy as the writers gleefully raided DC's history for classic heroes and villains.
If you're willing to forgive some unbalanced character development then you'll have a great time with this first season. Justice League is a very entertaining show that any fan of superhero animation should not be without.
This series features more sophisticated plots than those in the early Justice League days, and older viewers will enjoy the continuation of storylines from one episode to the next.
Justice League's frank and honest discussions surrounding relationships, trauma and loss deserve to be commended. The series was very adult when it wanted to be... but it served a purpose in creating a show that catered for all ages.
Each episode is a multi-part mini-epic focusing on a specific corner of the DCAU... and the expansive nature of the series makes it one of the strongest iterations of the Justice League in any medium.
Unfortunately, like many Season One episodes, the storytelling is largely superficial. Fans expecting more would have to wait for future episodes, when Justice League would develop into a far more engaging series.
