Sheriff Thomas McAllister was the sheriff of Napa Valley. This was a cover for the fact that he was really the serial killer Red John. Not only did he have a personal cadre of followers, such as Rebecca, Loreli Martins, Dumar Tanner, and Timothy Carter, he was also the leader of the Blake Association, an organization of corrupt law enforcement officers. The name comes from the poem by William Blake Tyger, Tyger , which was often quotes by Red John and his followers. It is not known if Craig O'Laughlin and Todd Johnson were members of the Blake association, or were part of RJ's person cadre. McAllister saved Patrick Jane twice, once as a heavily disguised Red John, rescuing him from film students who were copycating him, which he considered a grevious insult, and once as the Sheriff, climbing up onto the roof of a church to shoot a murder suspect. He also killed James Panzer, the San Joaquin Killer, after Panzer publically insulted him. McAllister/Red John killed fellow RJ suspect Brett Partridge, and painted the sinister smile on Theresa Lisbon's face. He ordered Reed Smith to kill Robert Kirkland, who had uncovered the Blake Association. When Jane gathered the remaining suspects together, McAllister planted two bombs that killed Brett Stiles, and Ray Haffner, left Smith wounded, allowed Bertrem to escape, and faked his own death. He would later order Bertrem's death after the disgraced CBI director led Jane into his trap. McAllister revealed himself as Red John, believeing that he had won. Jane used his sleight of hand skills to throw a pigeon in McAllister's face, distracting him long enough for Jane to shoot him. McAliister began begging for his life, no doubt like many of his victims had done. Jane of course had no intention of doing so. After a long chase, Jane caught up with McAllister and choked him to death, ending the conflict that had been raging for ten years. Show less «
