Marie crosses paths with Jason when he escapes a bank siege and needs someone to drive him to Paris. Marie gets attracted to Jason and later falls in love with him. At the time of meeting Jason, Marie's life is not very structured and does not seem to have many career prospects. She is a type of person that seems to not like much structure anyway, so an adventure with Jason seems mysterious and therefore attractive. Besides she is offered some handsome cash for the drive...Marie certainly takes a special place in Jason's life as she symbolizes a new beginning for him, where he can lead a normal and happy life despite his past and all the memory issues. She inevitably, although voluntarily, puts herself in the crossfire that Jason's freedom represents, since he is the object of interest for many powerful people.
