Ellen Harvelle is the mother of Jo Harvelle and a close friend of John, Sam and Dean Winchester. She owns a roadhouse called Harvelle's Roadhouse (until it was burned down by demons) where hunters like herself gather. She was once married to and hunting partners with her now deceased husband Bill Harvelle. Sam and Dean meet Ellen when they find a four month old voice message on John's phone after his death. While attempting to hunt Lucifer with Sam, Dean, Castiel and Jo, she encounters the demon Meg who releases her hell hounds that severely injures Jo.Ellen dies in an explosion she set off after Jo's death, killing the hell hounds and saving Sam and Dean. she makes a brief one episode appearance in My Heart Will Go on. Due to Balthazar unsinking the Titanic the universe is altered in a manner that makes Jo and Ellen alive and Ellen married to Bobby Singer.
