Cormac McLaggen is the extremely cocky and arrogant Gryffindor who is a minor (and basically fake) love interest of Hermione Granger. He is tall, thick, and muscular, and Hermione uses him to make Ron Weasley jealous. He tries out for the Gryffindor quidditch team, but Ron beats him out for the keeper job. When Ron is unable to play, McLaggen fills his place, but Harry wastes no time in kicking him off the team when Ron returns. Due to the fact that his family is well connected in the wizarding world, McLaggen is invited to join Professor Slughorn's 'Slug Club', which features well connected students amongst other talented or exceptional wizards. Harry, Ginny, Blaise Zabini, and Hermione are also in the club.In the films, McLaggen is played by Freddie Stroma. His only appearance in the series was in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
