The word square has been used to describe the well-intentioned, though completely out-of-his-league, stepfather to Tig and Remy. Now widowed after the passing of his wife Caroline, Bill goes out of his way to keep his house clean in a desperate effort to maintain some semblance of order in his life, when in reality things could not be any more cluttered. While he has frequently been a rock for his kids to lean on over the years, to say that their relationship is distant would be a gross understatement.
