Champion rifle shooter Willy Rogeberg was born on December 11, 1905 in Oslo, Norway. Rogeberg won a gold medal in men's small-bore rifle, prone, 50-meters at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Willy went on to win a bronze medal in the men's free rifle, three positions, 300-meters at the 1948 Olympics in London, England as well as won three medals at the 1935 International Shooting Sport Federation World Shooting Championships. Moreover, Rogeberg started his own guns and sporting equipment business in Oslo, Norway in 1936 after winning his first Olympic medal. Willy was arrested on weapons related charges by the Germans during the Second World War German occupation of Norway on May 29, 1942. Rogeberg was initially incarcerated at the penitentiary Mollergata 19 from May 29 to October 5, 1942; he served the rest of his sentence at the Grini prison camp in Bearum, Norway from October 5, 1942 to December 22, 1943. Willy died at age 64 on December 15, 1969 in Oslo, Norway. Show less «
