Vladimir Nikolov Penev was born on October 24, 1958. He is a Bulgarian actor , performing roles in film, television and theater. In 2013, he became culture minister in the caretaker government of Marin Raykov. Penev was born in Sofia , Bulgaria . His father was the Nikola Penev , a journalist from the newspaper "Agricultural flag." Vladimir Penev ends his secondary education at the School number 8, in Sofia. In 1982 he graduated in Acting for Theatre in the class of Professor Nikolay Lyutskanov with assistant Margarita Mladenova in National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria. From 1985 to 1992 he was in the trope of the Youth Theatre in Sofia. Then he became an actor in the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov". Since 2003, he plays in the troupe of "Small City Theatre behind Channel". Among his many awards are the "Golden Mask" at the International Theatre Festival "Ohrid Summer", The Union of Bulgarian Actor's Award "Icarus" for his portrayal of Edgar in the show "Dance of Death"; the Award "Asker" in 1996 for the Husband of "Nirvana" by Konstantin Iliev, directed by Margarita Mladenova; the Award "Asker" in 2007 for Edgar of "Dance of Death": Best Actor Award in Rijeka, 2007 for; Best Actor Award "Golden Chest" in 2000 for the movie "Hourglass", directed by Georgi Djulgerov. In 2010 he was nominated for the Award "Asker" for Supporting actor in " Pleasantly Scary " at Theatre 199 . Penev deals with the dubbing of commercials, films and series from the late 80th of last century. He participated in synchronous dubbing of " Mrs. Doubtfire ," which is the first made-for-TV. Penev is better known for his work on US series like " Twin Peaks ," " The diaries of red shoes ," " Highlander ," " The X-Files ," " Monk ," " Two and a Half Men " (from second to eighth season) ", CSI: NY " and " Desperate Housewives ."
