He originated the "March of Dimes" and "Command Performance" (Armed Forces Radio Service) radio series, and in World War II served as a sergeant in the US Army and a lieutenant in Germany. He was the president of an advertising agency and a member of the OBE (military division), the Screen Writers' Guild, and the British-American Fellowship.
