Tim was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, and raised in Hayward, California, near San Francisco. Tim began acting in plays at the local college. At sixteen he joined the professional company at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco where he appeared in many plays. During this time A.C.T. was awarded the regional theatre Tony Award. At nineteen he attended the Drama Studio London. After graduation he appeared in Patrick Tucker's award-winning production of Cybeline, for which he was nominated for a Dramalogue Award. Later he joined ODN productions as an actor, writer and producer, making two award winning dramatic films, Promises and A Tender Balance. At 21 he was the youngest member of the company at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, appearing in 11 plays over two seasons. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival also won the Tony Award during Tim's tenure. Still wanting to grow as an actor, Tim went on to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he attended the Graduate Acting Program on scholarship. Tim worked with many inspiring artists and teachers during this time, but was especially inspired by his work with Tony Kushner, who cast Tim in two original works, The Prophets and The Brecht Play on Consent. After graduating he went on to appear in theatres, films, television and radio. He always sought out opportunities to develop new work. Finally he went back to writing, which he now pursues when not acting, producing and teaching. Tim is an avid mountaineer and was a member of the 1998 Annapurna I South Face Expedition and the 2004 Everest Friendship Beyond Borders Expedition, which got the first climber with an artificial leg to the summit of the world's highest mountain. Tim has three children, Lily, Austin and Joe. He lives in Los Angeles. Show less «
