Syhaya first began to develop her passion for acting at the age of 5 when she saw her mother perform as Mary Magdelene in her Church's Christmas pageant. She performed in her first play (that she can remember) while she was in the second grade and it was written and directed by her brother Spurgeon and a few of his classmates. Syhaya graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, with a B.F.A. in theatre. While there, she studied with the Lee Strasberg Institute for Acting and The Stonestreet Studios for Film/TV acting. She was also blessed to venture into the world of voiceover while studying in a studio at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music. From being an original member of Harlem's The Movement Theatre Company to a sultry rapstress in the former pop duo , The Psyche Effect, to collaborating on writing and creating various skits and sketches, Syhaya always has her hands in some creative venture. She finds acting to be her art form and outlet for connecting with the world. Everyone has a story worth telling, and she's honored to be a part of the process with her passions. She also believes that performance arts are a form of healing for many, whether by viewing or participating and continues to give thanks for the opportunity to be on both sides. She also conducts a holistic business for yoga and meditation tools and workshops through. Show less «
