Born and raised in Houston, Texas, this southern girl was destined to be in the Entertainment industry. From a very early age she remembers finding it easy to identify with the various characters from television, film, and her novels. As a result, much to her parents amusement, and sometimes despair, she would take on those characters' speech, mannerisms, wardrobe, and dance choreography for weeks at a time. Her gift as an actress is and always has been, to connect with and understand stories and people despite their era, their demographics, or their walk of life.Randa attended Prairie View A& M University, spending her first three years in Engineering before she discovered a vessel in which to pour all of her artistic gifts. That vessel was dance. So she promptly changed her major and graduated with a Dance Minor and a degree in Business Management. She embraced a professional Modern Dance career as a principal performer with two Houston based companies and training from the world renowned Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre in New York City. While performing, Randa also had a desire to inspire and shape the lives of children. So in conjunction with her career as a dancer, she earned her Teachers Certification and worked as a full time teacher in the public school system on both the primary and secondary level. Feeling as though she was still missing a key component to her purpose as an artist, she retired from both dance and teaching and moved to Miami, a move that would be the catalyst to a successful and fulfilling acting career. Her time in Miami gave her over thirty National and Regional commercials as a principal performer and dozens of print advertisements with major companies. It also gave her a greater desire to accomplish even more in her acting, which ultimately lead her to relocate to Los Angeles. She immediately began studying and cultivating her craft as a Theatre actress at Playhouse West in North Hollywood, and there is where all of the pieces to her artistic puzzle came together.Randa made her first film debut for Warner Bros. in the Starring role Dorris Payne, in "Masters of the Heist" shortly after arriving in Los Angeles. The film was a documentary based on the true story of the female international jewel thief Dorris Payne, whose life was so compelling Halle Berry optioned the rights to turn the story into a major motion picture. Randa has since followed that project with several principal roles in National commercials as well as Starring and Supporting roles in various Feature Films and Short Films like Sophia Coppola's major motion picture, "Somewhere". The short film "Rubicon", in which she booked the Starring role, earned her her first Film Festival award for Best Actress which opened the doors for work on major networks like Showtime, HBO, and NBC, to name a few. In conjunction with working on Film and Television, she also continues to grace the stage in various theater productions throughout Los Angeles. One of her latest roles as Summer, in the world premiere and now critically acclaimed and award winning play "Bones of Lesser Men", earned her rave reviews by Los Angeles' most prestigious critics as well as a nomination for "Best Ensemble" by L.A. Weekly's 30th Annual Theatre Awards and the N.A.A.C.P. Theatre Awards. This up and coming actress' desire is to continue advancing in her craft and working on projects that speak to and positively influence the human spirit. Show less «
