Perla Viviana Rodriguez was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She has always shown a great interest in entertaining from a very young age. She has been involved in several fields of performance such as choir, cheerleading, Mariachi, and color guard. Furthermore, Perla received several acting awards for her performances in high school plays during her junior and senior years.Perla's mind has always been set on filmmaking, both in front of and behind the camera. In fact, she has written, acted, directed, and filmed her own short movies while still participating in several local short films. In 2007, Perla received the grand prize award for her film "Embrace," earning her recognition amongst other local filmmakers. Two years later, Perla created a spoof of Shakira and entered it into a contest on an international show called "El Gordo y La Flaca," where the viewers voted. Perla won and was flown to Miami in order to meet the singer. The same spoof was later aired in the United Kingdom on ITV2's "Katy Brand vs. Shakira" In addition, Perla played the lead actress in the feature "Speechless" for a local 24 hour film race in 2011. Her moving performance won her the top award of Best Actress. That same summer, Perla landed the role of Laurel in the cinematic feature "The Cloth," in which she was given the opportunity to act alongside Eric Roberts.Perla's production company, PearlRoads Studios, was initially created in February 2009.
