Márcio Venturi is an awarded Brazilian filmmaker born in Viçosa, Minas Gerais.He lived in Portugal from 1988 to 1998. At the age of 20 he arrives in New York to study Corporate Cable and Communications at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He starts dedicating a lot of his time working with analog and digital editing. He ranked second at the college's video-editing festival and was a trainee on the NY1 Channel as an image editor. He graduated with honors (A.A.S.), having received a Bell Atlantic scholarship for his last semester.In 2001, Venturi transfers his credits to Brooklyn College's Film program. His undergraduate thesis was a 16mm short film titled Out of the Prohibition Era (2003). The short was part of the official selection of the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. He graduated in 2003 (B.A) and was in the Dean's List twice.In 2004, the director returns to Brazil and settles in the city of Rio de Janeiro. He held several positions as an editor from O Infiltrado (2013) for the History Channel to Big Brother Brasil (2002) for Globo Channel. He was doing also a lot of camera work on the side and in 2010 he finished another short Ferocidade Entre a Urbe e a Flora (2010) . It screened in more than 30 film festivals around the world and won the Best Short Film award at the 18th Cinemato (audience award) and at the 8th Mostra de Ribeirão Preto (jury award).He shoots his directorial feature film debut in 2014 with Desabafo (2015), in which two actors play three different couples. The film stars Fernando Alves Pinto and is currently available in Prime Video.From 2014 to 2018, he has directed three seasons of the critically acclaimed Futura Channel documentary series Destino: Educação - Escolas Inovadoras Season 1 (2016).
