In her senior year, after breaking her own state record at a qualifying meet she was sidelined one week before her final state championships with appendicitis.World-class high jumper whose best ranking was 2nd in the nation and 10th in the world. She also competed for the United States, UCLA and World Class Track Club under the coaching of Bobby Kersee. Former Olympian. Was cast as high jumper Penny Brill in _Robert Towne_'s film Un ticket pour les jeux (1982), which began her career in the entertainment industry. This was all under her maiden name, Kari Gosswiller.
