Julie Phillips was born and raised in Studio City, California. She began performing at the tender age of 2 when her father, the iconic film and TV composer, Stu Phillips, was working on a television commercial and needed some young kids in the background. Both Julie and her sister, Toni, also sang background for commercials and movies. Their mother, Dori Ann Gray, was a singer at the Copa Cabana and sang with the likes of Frank Sinatra. Julie continued to act into her teens but stopped when she went to college (USC/UC Santa Cruz). Where she decided she was better suited to be a feminist writer and organic farmer. But when she moved back to LA in 1989 she was once again bitten by the performing bug. Over the next decade Julie studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and Groundlings Theater booking television shows (Love Streets, Days of Our Lives) and films (What's Love Got to Do With It) while supplementing her income as an aerobics instructor. In 1999 Julie got married and made her love of teaching fitness a priority. She once again took a hiatus from acting to raise a family and teach Pilates. In 2018 an invitation to be on the SAG nominating committee sparked her re-ignition into the world of acting...And she has never looked back. In under two years Julie has written, produced, and starred in 2 short films, 3 web series, and booked roles in the industry (The Young And The Restless, Derek Deloy the Pool Boy). Julie believes it is never too late to change your life and do what you love...even in a pandemic.
