Josh Liveright is a writer, director, producer, and actor. In 1991 he co-founded Zena Group, a not-for-profit theater and film collective based in New York City. As Zena Group's artistic director Josh produced New York premieres of plays by Mark O'Donnell, Jose Rivera, Neena Beber, Steven Dietz, Neal Bell, Richard Strand and Gilbert Girion; several broadcast quality videos including Positive Voices, a documentary featuring interviews with long-term survivors of HIV and AIDS; and original projects such as the Thoughts Modern Festival of New Works and Timsloft, a long running late-night series of multi-media performance.As a writer, Josh's plays have been staged at New York Performance Works, One Dream Theater and the Interart Theatre. Three of his plays have won awards at the NYC Fifteen Minute Play Festival, and another, The Suicide Society, was a finalist at the Actors Theatre of Louisville 2002 Humana Festival of New American Plays. His play, Mississippi Sundown, won best play at the River Play Festival in Beacon New York. In 2006, the Interart Theatre presented a production of Josh's multi-media play, Hades_Pluto Aspect. Illumination Rounds, a dystopian two-hander, was produced in 2007. As a filmmaker, Josh has produced several short films including Let Go, nominated for best short at the 1997 Hamptons International Film Festival and the US Comedy Arts Film Festival. In the summer of 2004 he produced the feature film, How You Look To Me, starring Frank Langella. Acting credits include five episodes of Law & Order, A Dog Year with Jeff Bridges and a ton of Off Off Broadway theater.
