John Lawrence McGill was born in Bakersfield, California in June 1967. With an older sister and a younger brother, John worked hard to carve out a place for himself. After graduating high school from Holliday High School in Holliday, TX , John received a full ride to play football at North Texas State University in 1986 (now The University of North Texas). As a star athlete in both Track & Field and in Football, John excelled in football and became a world class athlete before a knee injury side-lined him in 1989. John continued to play ball for NTSU & during his final year, the movies came calling.Unnecessary Roughness was filmed on the campus of NTSU (now The University of North Texas) in 1992 and John was chosen to play a member of the "Fighting Armadillos!"Even though his lines were eventually cut from the movie, he is still proud to know his action shots still remain and his name can still be found listed in the credits.
