Hopwood DePree's life became the focus of national UK media attention when he moved from Hollywood, CA to Manchester, England, to rescue his family's 600-year-old ancestral home known as 'Hopwood Hall'. His adventures at the enormous 50,000 square foot, 60-room dilapidated mansion are the subject of a comedic documentary and social media vlogs on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram -- as well as airing in part on BBC.He was born in Holland, Michigan, and graduated from The University of Southern California. A-list casting director Mali Finn saw Hopwood in a U.S.C. play and helped him get his first agent and paying role (as seen in the cult fave "Rhinoskin"). A few years later, Academy Award nominated filmmaker Whit Stillman saw Hopwood's critically acclaimed performance in the award winning comedy "The Last Big Attraction" and introduced him to a producer who got Hopwood a deal with Warner Bros. to create and star in his own TV show.Although Hopwood is concentrating on the renovation of 'Hopwood Hall' he continues to write, produce and perform in England, including regular comedic guest appearances on BBC Radio Manchester.
